Brand Spotlight: Prodoh GameDay Polos for Kids

September is here, and while many of us are busy dreaming of Fall-ish things like cooler weather, pumpkins and scarves, for millions of Americans it means one very important thing: Football season has officially arrived!

Yes, it’s finally GAME TIME!

Whether you’ll be chanting “Roll Tide” or “War Eagle” this Saturday, Southern Scarlett has got you Alabama and Auburn fans covered, so your little one can sport team spirit in comfort and style this Saturday, and every Saturday. We are very proud to feature Prodoh kids outdoor clothing in our boutique, and currently have two of their super popular GameDay Polo in stock (Crimson/ White and Orange/Blue).

If you haven’t yet tried one of these GameDay Polos for your little guy, you’re in for a real treat. These shirts have all the famous Prodoh kids features we love – adorable style, high quality manufacturing, and superb outdoor performance (UPF 50+, water resistance, and a comfortable mesh lining). We don’t expect these items to stick around long - Prodoh’s GameDay Polos are notorious for selling out - so grab your team colors from the Southern Scarlett boutique while they’re still in stock.

Behind the Brand: Prodoh

If you’re in the South like us, no doubt you’ve heard the hype over Prodoh’s revolutionary line of outdoor clothing for kids. The story of how Prodoh got their start is equally inspiring, and we are very excited to share a bit of it with you today.

Prodoh’s whole deal is creating outdoor apparel for kids that feature the same high quality performance elements that are available for adult clothing. Prodoh was founded by Evan Proffitt and DJ Doherty, two dads from Greenville, SC. Both are avid outdoorsmen who grew up enjoying the great outdoors and regularly take their kiddos on outdoor sporting excursions. After one particular fishing trip, and a request from one son for a shirt “just like daddy’s” (swoon), the men set out to find an appropriate fishing shirt for kids. After coming up short (who knew something so simple could be so hard to find?), the two became frustrated by the lack of good places to buy quality outdoor clothing for young kids.

Evan and DJ, who work as general contractors by day and whose families have been friends for years, didn’t waste much time. They put their heads together and collaborated to create a line of functional outdoor apparel that would keep kids safe while “Getting Them Outdoors.” After enlisting the help of their wives to run the day-to-day operations, they successfully launched a brand that’s gained quite an impressive following in just a handful of years.

So about the clothes. Not only are Prodoh kids clothes super stylish, they’re extremely functional. Each item is thoughtfully designed to be versatile enough to be worn outdoors and in the water. For example, the tops feature performance fabric that wicks and is UPF 50+, so your little guy or gal will get protection from the sun while they do what kids do best – PLAY!

One of our favorite features of the shirts is also what the founders call the “Get Back Here” loop – for when your little one decides to make a run for it. How genius is that? Why don’t all kids clothes have this?! You can tell real parents with real experience designed these clothes.

Not only do we adore Prodoh’s high quality clothing, we also just love what they stand for.

From the Prodoh kids website:

Growing up outdoors, crabbing, fishing, hunting, sunning, and splashing, was a way of life for us. We learned patience while “waiting on the big one,” after many reminders that “that’s why they call it fishing and not catching.” We learned that watching the sunset from a deer stand was way better than any video game.

So you see, Prodoh is more than a product or youth apparel line. Prodoh is about promises, passion, perseverance, and being present. A legacy of lessons for our children. So do yourself a favor and take a kid outdoors! We caught Prodoh, who knows what will happen to you!

We love supporting family-owned companies with motivating stories such as this one, almost as much as we love giving kids the opportunity to wear clothes that they can feel their best in.

Don’t miss this chance to grab one of these amazing GameDay Polos in your team’s colors. Not only will your family look spirited as all get out, but you will rest easy knowing your little one is comfortable and safe from sun, water, and heat. The only downside might be the barrage of compliments and questions about where you got your kid’s shirt! Not a bad thing, in our opinion.

While you’re checking out the GameDay Polo, don’t miss the opportunity to check out one of our other favorite items in the boutique, the Prodoh youth fishing shirt.

Prodoh Kids Fishing Shirt, in white

This is the perfect top for staying comfortable in the Fall in the South. The top features long sleeves for sun protection, but with super convenient roll-up tabs - ideal for keeping your kiddo’s arms protected from the cool morning breeze while still being light enough to wear in the hot sun that same afternoon. No need to change your kiddos clothes mid-day! These shirts are UPF 50+ and unisex, and are quite literally made for kids (and whichever parent is on laundry duty – wrinkle resistant, machine washable, and quick dry – music to our ears!)

We hope you enjoyed learning more about Prodoh. Sharing stories about our inspiring brand partners makes us feel good, and we hope to share more in the future. We take pride in offering clothing from some of the most progressive and innovative companies out there, because we truly want the best for your kids. We know you work hard for your money and want to feel good about the businesses you support. To see more of their beautiful clothes, check out the whole Prodoh collection on Southern Scarlett.
